Sacrificing

Every year, I am faced with the tough decision of what to give up for Lent.  I always try and make a significant sacrifice.  In the past, I have given up brownies, nail biting, snacks, soda, the usual things I knew I could live without.  However, this year, two of my close friends decided what this year's sacrifice would be.
I am very fortunate to have AMAZING parents.  They give me everything I could ever want and need.  Sometimes... well, all the time... I take that for granted.  I was given a credit card by my parents, and was told to use it when ever I needed it.  I use it for clothes, food, gas, ect.  It acts like my safety blanked.  Inside, I know if I need something in an emergency I have access to it.
So, being that today is "Fat Tuesday," I had to decide what to give up.  I was sitting at the table with two of my sorority sisters eating diner, and we were talking about Lent and what we usually give up.  My friend Jamie said I have the perfect idea!  She asked to borrow my phone, little did I know she was calling my parents.  When my mom answered the phone, Jamie explained for Lent, she was going to take away my credit card.  No more charging or buying in excess.  My parents thought it was a GREAT idea!... I, on the other hand, was brought to tears because I rely on it so much!  Inside, however, I know this will be a great sacrifice, because it really is something I don't think I can live without.  Only time will tell.

Lesson Learned:
The best way to appreciate something is to be without it for awhile.
